Ebook Profits - Super-Charge Your Ebook Sales

Want to make a fortune selling ebooks? Success or failure depends on your marketing; let’s see how to make money online with your new ebook.

Here’s a big, valuable tip: start selling your ebook before your write it. Yes, you heard right. Sell FIRST. If you don’t sell first, you can waste a lot of time on projects which fizzle rather than sizzle.

For example, Bob spent six months developing his first ebook. Then he spent another three months getting his Web site up and running. Finally he was ready to launch the product, and in his first week he made three sales.

While three sales is a good start, it was a long way from the 100-plus sales a week Bob envisioned.

Here’s how to super-charge your ebook sales, so every ebook you launch is a roaring success.

1. Research, Research, Research!

Research is the key to success with any ebook, and it’s easy online, so all you need to do is actually DO IT.

For example, if he’d spent even five minutes on research Bob would know that his ebook was entering a very crowded marketplace. There were many other ebooks on the topic he chose, and they sold well - people were spending big money on Pay Per Click (PPC) ads, which is always a sign of a hot topic.

Since people were making money with this topic, Bob would be able to do so as well, as long as he managed to differentiate his product from the others.

Bob vaguely understood that Topic X was hot, but that was all. He should have purchased the competing products, and studied them to see where there was a hole in the market. No product is perfect, so Bob could have capitalized on his competition, with sales lines like: “What Product X Won’t Tell You About _______” He had readymade marketing hooks, if only he’d researched.

Here’s an easy way to research - create a blog.

2. Talk to Your Customers

A blog lets you talk to your prospective customers. They’ll tell you what they want to buy. With your customer’s help, you can make your ebook a guaranteed top seller before a word is written.

3. Make Your Customers Feel Special

Not only will your prospects tell you what they want, they’ll also turn into customers, and will help you to market your ebook.

Everyone wants to belong, and even if your blog just gets 300 visitors a week, you’ll not only have input, you’ll also have customers who will buy from you.

Taking your customers into your confidence makes them feel special - you have a relationship with them. Some will even turn into evangelists for your product.

4. Turn Your Customers Into Keen Evangelists

Bloggers help other bloggers, so you’ll find that you’ll get links and comments from the blogosphere which will generate buzz for your ebook, long before it comes out.

When it’s close to launch day, send out early copies to your blogging friends. Every review you get is valuable, and will result in sales.

Many of your blog’s readers will buy your ebook as soon as it appears, and some will turn into evangelists, recommending it to your friends. If you want to use affiliate marketing, they will become your first affiliates.

So in a nutshell, remember that sales come first. Sell first, then create the ebook, and you can’t help but create bestsellers.

Ebooks - Graphics and Bonuses Help You to Sell

Want to make money online by writing and selling ebooks? Great information will always sell, but you can sell more when you add graphics and bonuses to your ebook package.

Here’s a big tip before we continue: quality information will sell your ebook, and will ensure that your buyers continue to buy from you. You can’t expect to dress up a poor quality ebook with graphics to improve it; to coin a cliche, that’s like putting lipstick on a pig.

So please, focus on quality information first. Then ensure that both your graphics and your bonuses add value.

So let’s look at how graphics and bonuses help you to sell.

Great Graphics Are Useful Graphics - Forget Pretty Pictures

When you’re thinking about graphics for an ebook, think about your buyer. What graphics will help him to get the most from his purchase?

The answer is always - graphics which add information. Your graphics could be charts and graphs or maps, or any information-rich image.

If you’re selling an ebook about Jack Russell Terriers for example, include pictures of a healthy puppy, dog leads suitable for Jack Russells, dog beds for small dogs, and so on.

If your ebook is about acne cures, your graphics could show before and after images of people who’ve used the cures you describe, as well as product images of products you recommend.

Bonuses will Help You to Sell - if They’re Quality

Think about your bonuses when you plan your ebook. In our Jack Russell example, your bonuses could include diet sheets for puppies and older dogs, an interview with a Jack Russell expert, and a training manual.

Just as with graphics, your bonuses should be useful because they add information. If your bonuses are just material you’ve picked up for free online, and they don’t add value, don’t include them, because they’ll detract from your offering.

A great ebook with quality information will keep selling for you for years. Good graphics and bonuses will increase your sales every day, with just a little extra effort.

Want to write and sell ebooks online? You can, it’s a great home business you can start right away. To ensure success, develop a simple business plan.

Your plan for your ebook business can be very short. Just answer a few simple questions. The benefit of a short plan is that you’ll put it into action, rather than procrastinating.

Here are some questions to ask yourself.

* When will I launch my first ebook?

Or, if you’re acting as an affiliate, when will I start marketing my first affiliate product?

This initial question asks you to set a deadline. Even if you’re producing your own ebook, set the deadline no longer than three months ahead, maximum, otherwise you’ll lose your initial impetus which inspired you to start your business.

* How much income do I want to make in years one and two of my business?

Set an income goal - you can’t hit a target if you don’t create the target.

Yes, you’re guessing, and that’s fine.

* What’s my primary business model?

Business models include writing and selling your own ebooks, acting as an affiliate for others’ ebooks, and acting as a reseller of others’ ebooks.

If you’re not a writer, you can hire writers to write your ebooks; however do factor these costs into your plan.

* How much capital do I have to invest in my business?

The more capital you can invest, the faster your business will grow. However, it’s possible to start with your business with as little as $50 for a domain name and hosting.

Once you’ve answered the questions to the best of your ability, make a list of actions to take, and transform the tasks into tasks. Enter the tasks into your calendar program.

As you start working on your tasks, you can evaluate and adjust your plan. No plan is written in stone, it just provides a handy way to get perspective on your business.

Now you know how, create your plan for your ebook business today, and start working on your tasks. Before you know it, you’ll have a thriving home business.
